Administrative Medical Assistant Program

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our entry level Hybrid online/onsite 4-month program will prepare individuals for an entry level Medical Administrative Assisting position. Our introductory program will prepare individuals, under supervision of physicians, to provide medical office administrative services and perform simple clinical duties including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid. Heart to Heart Career Training Center’s Medical Assistant program includes instruction in basic anatomy and physiology; medical terminology; medical law and ethics; patient psychology and communications; medical office procedures; and clinical diagnostic examination, testing and treatment procedures.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS

The Medical Assistant has a variety of job responsibilities inclusive of medical and administrative tasks depending on State Law. Some common tasks of an MAC include; taking a patient’s history, preparing an examination room, assisting physicians during examinations, filing and front desk responsibilities. Since a Medical Assistant works with the public, appearance and respect for confidentiality is important.


Medical Assistants may advance to other positions through experience or additional training. Additional EKG class or Phlebotomy class for the CMAC certification.


You will learn in our course:

  • Taking vitals
  • Recording patient visits
  • Charting a patient’s history
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Infection controls
  • Assisting the physician as necessary
  • Recognizing the need for continuing education and staying current in health care mandates

COURSE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Pre Course Exams
  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Background check with no barrier crimes
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR
  • Employers may require Immunizations to include: Hep B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella, Covid shots and TB testing and flu when in season
  • Some clinical sites may require a drug test
  • Covid Immunizations may be required

Program Schedule 4 months

  • Course will have a total of 92 hours
  • Online 60 hours
  • Lab onsite estimated hours: 32 hrs
  • It is recommended to spend a minimum of 6 hrs per week studying and doing online assignments.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: this is an online hybrid course. You will need a laptop,

Personal Computer (PC), or MAC to take this class. A printer is not required but very helpful.

Chrome Browser for Google Classroom. You may be able to use an I-pad, but it is a little more difficult to work with. We DO NOT recommend using a smartphone to take the class. We will not offer help on a smartphone.


Program Costs:

Tuition: $1750

Nonrefundable Registration fee: $100 included in tuition and $300 deposit = $300 at registration

Deposit at the time of Registration and your lab fee of $160. $300 is applied to tuition.


Student Fees: Estimated Costs NOT included in tuition and due prior to class start date

Books & Materials: $115 estimated

Background check: 35.50

CPR: $70

BLS Provider handbook: %16-$25

LAB FEE: $160

National Exam MAC: $125.50 paid when registering for exam


Payment Plan: Tuition only

Finance fee: $25

First payment due first week of class and then every two weeks for 6 payments of $245.83 each.


We offer a 5% courtesy discount if tuition will be paid prior to the class start date.

Registration documents will be sent via DocuSign to complete and return once your deposit is received. You will need to send a copy of drivers’ license, and high school diploma or GED. Complete all requirements prior to class start date. Requirements List is in packet to be sent to you and in your course information sheet. If you need to register for a CPR class refer to your packet for information regarding scheduling and purchasing your Provider Book prior to your class.
