Hybrid Patient Care Technician

WHAT TO EXPECT

The 21-week Hybrid Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level practice in patient care. The program includes Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, and EKG courses. Students begin with the Nurse Aide program, then progress to either the EKG or Phlebotomy course, depending on which is scheduled next.

All courses are delivered in a hybrid format, combining online learning with on-site training. Safe and competent patient care requires that graduates demonstrate knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes guided by ethical and legal principles.

Our PCT program equips students with the entry-level skills and competencies needed to assist in caring for patients with complex health needs in acute, sub-acute, long-term, and ambulatory care settings. Students are trained to perform EKG and phlebotomy procedures, as well as CPR, under the supervision of nurses and doctors.

After completing our Patient Care Technician course, students will be prepared to take the Credentia Virginia Nurse Aide Exam, The American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Phlebotomy Technician Certification, and the AMCA EKG Technician Certification.
