How PALS HeartCode® Works

Complete the Online Portion (HeartCode)
Purchase and complete the AHA PALS HeartCode® online course. This covers the cognitive portion of PALS at your own pace. Save your completion certificate.

Book Your Skills Check with Us
Register for the in-person skills session at Heart to Heart CTC. Class is limited to 6 students — book early to secure your spot.

Attend the 1–2 Hour Session
Come to our Williamsburg location with your HeartCode completion certificate. You'll practice and demonstrate PALS skills with a 1:1 manikin ratio under the supervision of a certified AHA instructor.

Receive Your AHA PALS Certification
Upon successful completion, you receive your official American Heart Association PALS Provider certification — valid for 2 years.

What You'll Practice In Person

The hands-on session validates the skills you learned in the HeartCode online course. Expect to demonstrate:

  • High-quality CPR with proper rate, depth, and hand placement
  • Cardiac arrest algorithms — including V-Fib, PEA, and Asystole
  • Airway management including bag-mask ventilation
  • Cardiac rhythm recognition and appropriate interventions
  • Pediatric pharmacology and medication decisions
  • Effective team dynamics and clear communication
  • Megacode scenario — bringing all skills together

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to complete anything before attending?
Yes. You must complete the AHA PALS HeartCode® online course before attending this session. Bring your completion certificate or course code with you. This skills check is the second step — not a standalone PALS course.
Where do I buy the HeartCode online portion?
We sell the PALS HeartCode® online portion (Part 1) — call (757) 229-0919 to check availability and pricing. Please note: Part 1 is a separate charge from the $115 skills check fee. You are paying two separate costs: one for the online HeartCode course and one for this in-person skills session. If we are out of stock, you can purchase Part 1 directly from the AHA at elearning.heart.org.
Is this for initial PALS or renewal?
Both! The PALS HeartCode format works for initial certification and for renewal. Whether it's your first time getting PALS certified or you're renewing every 2 years, this skills check covers you.
What if I don't pass the skills check?
If you do not pass, your instructor will provide remediation on the skills during the session. If additional practice is needed, you may be asked to reschedule. A $20 rescheduling fee applies. Please note: there are no refunds for no-call no-shows. If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact us in advance at (757) 229-0919.
Where exactly is the class held?

Can my company book a group session?
Yes! We offer on-site group training for healthcare facilities, clinics, businesses, and organizations. Call (757) 229-0919 or email admin@hearttoheartctc.com to discuss scheduling a session for your team.
📋 Cancellation Policy

CPR cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will not receive a refund. Students who cancel with less than 48 hours notice are responsible for the full class fee.

We are happy to reschedule to another class with proper notice. A $20 rescheduling fee applies if you do not pass the skills check and need to return.

No refunds for no-call no-shows. Groups who schedule an off-site course and cancel without at least 48 hours notice will be responsible for the course fees of 5 students.
